Is your Transforming Your Church
"And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. I give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." Matthew 16:18-19 Jesus declared it is His responsibility to grow His Church, and it is the church leadership's responsibility to exercise its authority to bind and loose. Paul had the church exercise this authority in I Corinthians 5:1-5 to deal with sin within the church body. And in II Corinthians 2:5-11 he exhorts the church body to use this principle through forgiveness, "in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes." If the local church does not properly exercise the power and authority commanded by Jesus, clearly Satan will take advantage and hinder the church's ability to be effective.
